Description

4040/AMRC/COMPASS/FREEZER/CK/24 Industrial Walk-in Freezer for COMPASS (Composites at Speed and Scale) Facility

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for an 'Industrial Walk-in Freezer' on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Scope of Requirement
The AMRC has recently won funding for an 'automated, large scale composites manufacturing centre', including a 'fully automated layup and consolidation cell' which will require a 'Tool Heating System'. A freezer will also be needed to store the products used in this manufacturing process outside the factory.

Brief Summary of Requirements
The supplied unit will be used to store materials relevant to the large scale composite manufacture, such as resins (both 1-part and 2-part) and pre-preg composite fabrics. The nominal storage temperature will be -18°C.

To appertain with the large scale cutting edge manufacturing facility ('COMPASS') currently being constructed, the proposed solution must be versatile, adaptable, accessible, and integral with digital systems. The tracking/traceability of stored items as well as product out-life monitoring is essential.

It is expected that the supplied unit will have integrated safety and alarms systems , with connectivity to allow remote notification of issues to staff or appropriate entities.
The supplied unit must be robust to accommodate all bulky/heavy stored items as well as pallet-truck access and manipulation (occasional forklift truck access and manipulation anticipated), as well as potential future relocation of the freezer unit itself to an alternative AMRC site.

Stored items such as resin and hardener are likely to be large and heavy; access via lifting equipment is essential.
