Description

The Balfour Beatty VINCI Joint Venture is looking to adopt a digital strategy to drive delivery efficiencies on HS2 project. This will include gathering more reliable and complete site data, to enable timely and informed decision-making based on secure and auditable information. To do this, the project is looking to exploit mobile site-based technologies to speed up, reduce the cost and improve the quality of information gathered during every day project working processes.
The BBV project team is familiar with a variety of technologies available to standardise workflows across a wide range of procedures, including: requests for information/technical queries (RFIs/TQs), Site Diaries, non-conformance reporting, health and safety, materials testing and approvals, permits, and 'snagging'. However, these have not traditionally been available on one system.
BBV are looking for a new approach, where information is readily available in the field, activities / tasks can be linked to models or drawings and for example quality control information could be used to inform value measurement and all information will automatically be available for handover.
To prepare for when Quality Assurance processes are required during construction, sufficient time must be allowed to configure the system, train users and communicate any process amendments.
Typically, a period of at least 2 elapsed calendar months should be allowed as an implementation period for such an important system.
In addition to the implementation of the Field Data Management system, the development of an interface to exchange information to the BBV Common Data Environment and Data Reporting environment is also required
