Description

Derbyshire County Council Public Health is seeking a single provider to deliver a Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Awareness Project, throughout the geographical area of Derbyshire, including Derby City. Raising awareness of supporting mental health generally to reduce self-harm and prevent suicides, within local organisations, targeting cohorts of children and young people, young men and middle aged-men.

The Project will provide practical means to help to make self-harm and suicide prevention everyone's business through adopting an empowered setting and organisation based approach.

The Project will be focused at local organisations who have contact with identified cohorts. For young and middle-aged men this will include through workplace settings and via football clubs, gyms and boxing clubs to provide supportive environments that will encourage men to talk and to contact support when they are in distress. Similarly, boxing clubs, gyms and football will provide the mechanism to reach young people and will enable the delivery of messages to adolescents. The approach will target cohorts directly through appropriate health promotion messages and indirectly through awareness and training of staff, managers, coaches, volunteers and parents and cultural change in the workplace, settings or club.

The contract start date will be 10 February 2020 to 09 February 2021.
