Description

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) intend to procure technical assistance to be provided to the Greater Chennai Corporation, Coimbatore Municipal Corporation and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in order to review and adapt their existing waste management plans with a view to move towards the principles of a Circular Waste Economy. This will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks to achieve the desired deliverables: Approach Papers / Roadmap
- Develop three (3) draft city-specific Approach Papers / Roadmaps, one for each of the cities, to guide planning on waste management and helping the cities in moving towards a circular economy by carrying out stakeholder engagements, secondary research and by factoring in international best practises as well.
- Develop an exhaustive list of international experts, including from the UK, technology providers, and innovators etc. who have expertise in the field of efficient waste management with particular focus on principles of circular waste economy. From the exhaustive list, shortlist 2 experts / expert organizations (international experts / agencies / consultants / innovators etc. including from the UK) most relevant for the three target cities in supporting them to move towards the principles of circular waste economy.
- Plan for and bring in the shortlisted 2 experts / representatives from the expert organizations (international experts / agencies / consultants / innovators etc. including from the UK) to Chennai, Coimbatore and Hyderabad and arrange for three knowledge exchange workshops, one at each of the target cities of Chennai, Coimbatore and Hyderabad. Key lessons learnt and relevant feedbacks and suggestions received from the workshops to be factored in to improve the three draft Approach Papers / Roadmap. This should lead to developing three revised draft Approach Papers / Roadmaps.
- Present and discuss the respective revised draft Approach Papers / Roadmap with the respective Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and any other relevant stakeholder and government departments, as suggested by the ULBs, to incorporate necessary changes suggested by the ULBs and other stakeholders.
- Finalise the three Approach Papers / Roadmaps based on feedback received and submit the final three Approach Papers / Roadmaps.
- Organize two knowledge dissemination workshops, one each at Chennai and Hyderabad to discuss and share the lessons learnt from this exercise and share key aspects of the Approach Papers / Roadmaps.
