First Aid Basic Level Training (12 Hour Course)
Who should attend:
Early Years practitioners/those working with children from 0-5 years.

Course Content:
Planning for First Aid emergencies involving babies and children
Dealing with emergencies involving babies and children
Resuscitating babies and children
Recognising and responding appropriately to:
• Anaphylactic shock
• Electric shock
• Bleeding
• Poisoning
• The emergency needs of babies and children with chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes, meningitis and other serious sudden illnesses

Responding appropriately to:
• Burns and scalds
• Choking
• Suspected fractures
• Head, neck and back injuries
• Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
• Eye injuries in babies and children
• Bites and stings
• Febrile convulsions
Responding appropriately to the effects of extreme heat and cold
