Description

The London Borough of Newham (the Council) is committed to putting people at the heart of everything it does, enabling Newham residents to play a key role in shaping the borough and building better neighbourhoods that work for everyone.
The supply of housing for local people is a priority for the Council, and Mayor Fiaz has pledged to deliver 50% of all homes on Newham-owned land as genuinely affordable, including those to be provided on the Carpenters Estate. Specifically, there is a Mayoral Manifesto commitment to engage with residents to co-design a resident-led Masterplan for the future Carpenters Estate.
The Council is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced consultant to carry out the role of Independent Tenants' and Residents' Advisor for the Carpenters Estate and provide support to the community throughout the regeneration project.
The successful consultant will be expected to support the Council, all residents living on the estate and those with the right to return, stakeholders and other consultants throughout the regeneration project. This will include the Residents' Ballot process and providing support and training to the Carpenters Destination Steering Group and its sub-groups, as well as supporting residents in the co-design of the Masterplan for the future estate.
Engagement with residents has already begun on the different development options in conjunction with architects and an interim Independent Tenants' and Residents' Advisor, and the successful consultant will continue this work by supporting the co-design process.
