Description

Rotherham is looking to commission a multi-component, evidence-based weight management programme for families of children aged 4-12 years identified as having a weight concern (e.g. through NCMP), which will form part of the childhood obesity pathway for Rotherham and wider preventative and targeted activity across the lifecourse. • Based on NICE guidance for tier two weight management service (for 4-12 year olds) • Duration of the programme to be in the region of 10 weeks • To include group based activity for families, with specific sessions for parents/carers inc. education and skills/behaviour change • To include practical sessions on being active (not just in organised settings, but moving more in daily life), healthy eating, cooking etc • To consider offering subsidised group physical activity sessions made available to those attending the programme / or offering signposting to other activities in their community • Opportunities must be sought to engage the whole family (not just one parent/carer) RMBC are looking to the market place for professional opinions and feedback, views and examples of what good likes to define how RMBC shape the new service.
