Description

Stocksbridge has been allocated up to £25m from the Towns Fund by the government . A Town Board has been established and is working towards delivery of a number of projects set out in the Town Investment Plan One of the Boards key projects is the development of a new library/hub building on Manchester Road A development scheme for the site is being worked up to deliver a new ground floor library and community hub space with 2 floors of office space above The new hub building will be developed on the site of the former library and some adjacent properties (as shown on the attached plan) - which will need to be acquired by the Council Another key project for the Board is public realm improvement works to the main shopping precinct on Manchester Road (461a to 489) which are also going to be delivered under the Town Investment Plan, and as part of these improvement works a couple of properties will need to be acquired by the Council The Council are to acquire the required properties for the Towns Board and are prepared (subject to Cabinet approval) to use its CPO powers if necessary to acquire all the required properties To that end the properties will be acquired on the basis as though via a CPO - so owners/occupier will be entitled to statutory CPO compensation payments Estimated Time to complete is 20 working days
