Description

Thanet District Council is seeking contractors to renew the roof covering at the above address including other associated external works The items include the following 1) To renew the roof covering in natural Welsh Slate, including battens, felt/boarding and all associated works 2) Carry out repairs and renewals to main structural roof timbers as required 3) partly demolish and then rebuild the chimney at far right (looking at Royal Crescent with back to sea elevation) 4) carry out repointing and other associated repairs to the other chimneys 5) make modifications to the existing secret gutter installation 6) apply liquid waterproof coatings to various areas 7) replace flat roof coverings and install SIKA approved waterproof coating system 8) Carry out various repairs including lead work to parapet walls 9) Comply with all planning regulations and building regulations 10) All other works included within the specification This grade 2 listed building located is in a conservation area and was built in 1826. It is located on a busy main road on St Augustine's Road in Ramsgate, Kent. This is actually the rear of the Crescent, the main facade faces the sea, southwards. The South front is rendered with a slate roof. It is four storeys high with a basement, the central section, and end pavilions taller, and with attics. The treatment of the façade shows slight variations, reflecting the piecemeal construction of what were originally 20 separate houses. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Suppliers should in first instance register themselves on the Kent Business Portal by following registration instructions. Following which they should register their interest in this opportunity by completing and submitting an electronic expression of interest. All procurement documents are attached to the notice and available for suppliers to download and complete according to instructions contained. Tenders are to be completed and submitted electronically via the Kent Business Portal. The procurement process will be undertaken on the basis of an Open Tender. All tenders will be accepted subject to the tenderer providing suitable responses to grounds for Mandatory and Discretionary Rejection and minimum standards are met as set out in the Invitation to Tender document. Evaluation will be on the basis of criteria as set out in the ITT document. All requests for clarification must be made via the Discussions area of the Kent Business Portal by no later than 1400hrs 16 September 2016 being 5 days before the submission deadline. Deadline for submission of Tenders is: 1400hrs Wednesday 21 September 2016. The form of contract will be the JCT Standard Building Contract With Approximate Quantities 2011.
