        "description": "Previous research has identified that collisions at junctions represent at least 21% \r\nof Killed and Seriously Injured KSI collisions on the Strategic Road Network \r\nSRN, and this is likely to be an underestimate1. The previous research did not \r\nprovide strong recommendations for junction treatments that would reduce KSIs \r\nat these locations. Not having strong recommendations for junction treatments \r\nlimits our ability to have a strong impact on National Highways Key Performance \r\nIndicator 1 KPI1, Safety.\r\n \r\nThis research seeks, the effectiveness of interventions for KSIs at junctions \r\nincluding innovative junction design, feasibility issues, and how recommended \r\ninterventions should be used to have the greatest impact on KPI1. \r\n\r\nThe overall aim of the project is to improve our understanding of the factors \r\ninfluencing collision likelihood and severity outcomes at junctions on the SRN, \r\nenable greater application of countermeasures with a higher safety impact per  \r\nthrough improving our understanding of the factors influencing collision likelihood \r\nand severity outcomes at junctions on the SRN, the effectiveness of interventions \r\nfor KSIs at junctions including innovative junction design, feasibility issues, and \r\nhow recommended interventions should be used to have the greatest impact on \r\nKPI1.",
