Description

PSBP is a Department for Education (DfE) led programme addressing the building requirements of schools most in need of urgent repair across the country.

Bensham Manor is a SEN secondary school where the children have a range of moderate learning difficulties, autism, behaviour needs and ADHD. The school has 225 pupils on roll as of the 2019/2020 academic year.

The project involves the refurbishment of Block EFAA which covers the music classroom, music store, electrical intake cupboard and corridor. The GIFA is 117 sqm. The refurbishment works involve:
• Strip off existing roof coverings and replacement with new flat roof coverings / system (incl; cable management, removal and infill of roof lights and flashing detail to retained blocks).
• New down water pipework in existing locations.
• New double-glazed windows with increased restrictor length for improved natural ventilation.
• Internal soft strip with new ceilings, doors and frames, floor finishes and FFE (blinds, shelving etc.).
• Redecoration of walls and skirting.
• Fire stopping of service penetrations.
• New electrical fittings with rewire and automatic detection controls.
• New air source heat pump with interconnecting pipework.
• New external perimeter planting to the south west elevation to prevent clashes with exposed windows.

Block EFAA is a single storey light weight structure built in the 1960s. Block EFAA has a flat roof system and the façade is combination of plastic composite wall panels and single glazed windows. Block EFAA connects Block EFAB and EFAC which are built in the late 1800s / early 1900s.
