Description

Provision of Ecological Surveys as part of the Lydney 'Eyes Right' project. The Lydney Coastal Community Team (LCCT) has bid for capital funding to undertake a range of public realm and visitor facility improvements at Lydney Docks and Harbour to enable further private sector investment at adjacent sites. The focus of our \"Eyes Right\" project is to encourage anyone travelling from the A48 roundabout to enjoy the industrial heritage at Dean Forest Railway, the canal setting and views out to the Severn Estuary. The project will be delivered in two phases, the bid currently being considered is to deliver Phase 1 of the project.

Improvements within the bid include; building refurbishment and new build to create an interactive heritage information point & toilet facilities, highway re-surfacing, creation of a shared pedestrian and cycle track, lighting scheme, installation of new mooring and fishing points, landscape improvements and phased dredging of the canal.

The funding bid was submitted in December 2016, and we expect an outcome in Spring this year. As part of the bid submission a Landscape & Environmental Strategy was developed and has helped inform what ecological surveys are required for the project area.

Should the bid be successful LCCT will need to be in a position to commence work as soon as possible. One of the first elements of work will be to undertake a number of required ecological surveys. An Ecological Scoping Assessment has been completed and is attached.
