Description

Barts Health NHS Trust is a major provider of hospital services for London and nationally for a wide variety of specialised and tertiary services. It is the largest NHS Trust in England and operates from five hospitals in east London. In 2014/15 it had an annual turnover of £1.3 billion and employs 15,000 staff. Its largest hospital is The Royal London at Whitechapel, which is the major trauma centre for east London. As part of its long-term, ongoing transformation the Trust is currently reviewing the use of its estate. A key contributor to this is the Whitechapel Development Programme, which is focused on the redevelopment of the buildings, land and associated holdings adjacent to The Royal London Hospital. The Trust wishes to commission a masterplanning team to explore the contribution this site can make to its vision to enhance clinical excellence and life science provision while also, at the same time, optimising the commercial returns. This work will be undertaken in conjunction with Queen Mary University of London, as well as other partner organisations. The appointed masterplanning advisory team will work with an established team of internal programme staff and experienced external advisers creatively to explore the physical and spatial options for the site. The timeframe for completion of the first phase of work is October 2016 with the programme anticipated to run for a further two years. There will be a Bidders briefing session on Friday, 29th January 2016 to set the scene for the project and allow Bidders to better understand the opportunities extending from the project. Further information on how to RSVP is contained within the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire.
