Description

The department of quantum technology at NPL is extending its capability in the emerging area of superconducting quantum computing. As part of this NPL is seeking to enhance its capability to probe large-scale superconducting circuits.

The National Physical Laboratory [NPL] requirement is for cryogenic probe station to be used for wafer-scale characterization of microfabricated superconducting circuits.

The system should be cryogen free ("dry") and equipped with two DC and two RF probes (at least 18 GHz) and be able to cool samples to temperatures <5K. The system should accommodate 2" wafer. The system should preferably also be able to do automated DC testing of many devices (with identical contact pad geometries) on a wafer in a pre-programmed sequence. Whereas the system will primarily be used to probe cryogenic temperatures it is also important that it can be used for both DC and RF probing at room temperature.
