Description

Laser system for rubidium-based optically pumped magnetometers.
The laser system should consist of the following components:
7 independent tuneable diode lasers in the 780 - 795 nm range (including aR coated
diodes, temperature stability, optical isolator) with controllers(a controller could be used
for up to two lasers)
Specifications for the diodes:
- Wavelength tuning range 765nm-800nm
- Output power after isolator >50mW
- Linewidth <100kHz
- Mode hop free tuning range >25GHz
- Frequency stability < 100MHz/K
P a g e | 3
Specifications for Laser diode controllers with frequency locking option:
- Temperature, current and piezo control with very low drift
- Enables to control up multiple laser heads
- Enables side and top of the peak locking
- Enables lock-in signal generation for locking to the top of the peak
- Includes PIDs to enable independent piezo and current locking for each laser diode
- Low current noise ( low frequency current noise< 100nA p-p)
1 laser diode at 928 nm with optical isolator to be used with one of the laser heads
- Output power 100mW after the isolator
- Coarse tuning range +/- 10nm
- Mode-hope free tuning range at least 20GHz
Overall budget for this item is up to £114,000 (VAT exemption)
