Description

As the nature of waste generated changes, we need to be confident that available waste management infrastructure will be sufficient and appropriate to achieve Government objectives for the management of hazardous waste and similar wastes requiring special management. These objectives including raising the management of hazardous waste up the hierarchy and destroying Persistent Organic Pollutants in line with statutory obligations and 25 Year Environment Plan commitments.
The aim of this project is to better understand the current market for the management of hazardous waste , to quantify the future capacity gap and to identify available approaches that could be used to evaluate the types of waste management infrastructure that may be developed in England.
