Description

The University of Manchester wishes to appoint a company/companies to deliver Architecture Lead Multi-Disciplinary Consultancy services for the Manchester Museum Courtyard Project

The Courtyard project seeks to transform Manchester Museum's reach to increased and diversified audiences, and make a pivotal contribution to Manchester city-region's economic, social and cultural renaissance at the heart of the emerging Northern Powerhouse.

The project is to be funded via three streams:
• The Treasury (Department for Culture, Media & Sport) - £5million secured from Treasury towards the South Asian Gallery
• Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) - £4.6million to be secured, a Stage 1 HLF application has been made.
• Manchester Museum / fundraising - the remainder from Museum endowments, internal contributions and fundraising activities
Whilst this procurement process is focussed on evaluating submissions through to project completion (the end of the RIBA Stage 7), progression of the project is dependent on securing HLF funding and this procurement process will proceed up until the point of recommendation, with the final appointment only being made once the HLF funding is secured.

Additionally assuming HLF funding is secured for the Stage 2 Bid then progression beyond the end of RIBA Stage 3 is dependent on a successful 'HLF Stage 2 Bid process' and securing the associated project funding for the 'Delivery Phase' (RIBA Stages 4-7). The University therefore reserves the right not to continue the appointment past the end of RIBA Stage 3 - Developed Design.
