The National Railway Museum is part of the Science Museum Group and this tenders is for the first phase of its transformation.We are the world's greatest railway museum. There is nowhere that can better tell the epic story of the way rail has transformed the world we live in.We have a challenge - to tell that story to 21st century audiences in a coherent and compelling way.To fulfil our mission, we are planning a major project:To completely re-display our Great Hall - the 8300m2 centrepiece of the museum and one of the UK's grandest exhibition spacesTo create Wonderlab - a 2300m2 hands-on gallery and learning space inspiring future engineersTo refresh and re-present our open collections storeOur aim is to complete these works in 2021 as the first phase of a wider Masterplan for NRM
